Its amusing to me how British this list is. Someone said it came from BBC? A lot of these books I've even only heard of because my British family is all about them... and in America they are totally ignored. Swallows and Amazons is a great example of that... Also explains Margaret Atwood being on the list... as well as some others, and the absence of others that Americans regard as classics.

I would really like to read sherlock holmes..

36 I think? A lot of them I read as a child. Blame my English major mother.

Shopping list ->

+ Winter boots. Some knee-high or otk thing... Steve Madden has some I like shockingly. Maybe that one shoe store will restock the ones I was looking at last year but were sold out by the time I got around to purchasing them...

+ Slouchy tops to replace grubby tshirts and shirts i still wear that used to be fashionable

+ Still looking for a pair of comfort heels. Found almost the perfect pair but they're a half size too small. Anyone own a shoe stretcher? I feel weird taking them to a shop that does it, since I purchased them from a store that doesn't. This reminds me that I need to call Aldo.

+ Sweaters. My two comfy sweaters are beginning to want company. Wool sweaters, rather than acrylic. Im sick of being cold all the time in my knits.

+ Bomber jacket. Wishlist item obviously. H&M now has knockoff burberry ones but they only come in black, and for once thats a problem for me. I tried on a bonafide flight jacket at the army surplus, and it was completely epic, but also very expensive. If I'm going to drop $500 on a non-fashion one, I might as well save for the stupid Burberry jacket I lust over. Whats a $1500 difference anyway, psh.

In other news Ive decided I need to do a mass clean out of my apartment. So much clothing I don't wear or want or need. So much random junk cluttering everything all the time. So many things I cant stand looking at anymore. Once I get into cleaning mode, i might post here if anyone wants anything, otherwise im just going to trash it.

Fashion daliences

As a result of boy-related drama, my mind has not been very focused on lolita... When I turn to the sales communities to buy something with the stash of clothes money in my paypal right now, theres nothing I particularly want to buy.

Instead I have discovered this huge urge to start buying real clothes. Clothes that maybe are attractive to the opposite sex, and that will make me look more like a bombshell than a barbie doll.

So - Fashion/Beauty things for fall:

I am totally in love with Burberry's bomber jackets this fall. They are super fab with giant collars, exaggerated details, classic sensibility. I really wish they didn't cost as much as my savings because they tempt me so when I pass the Burberry store every Monday on Michigan Ave. I hope F21 or H&M or someone make a knock-off. D:

Sweaters. I love them to pieces, but I want to start stocking up on ones that are both flattering and fashionable rather than just comfy. There's at Belmont Army I want a lot right now.

More leggings that actually fit.

Heels. Discovered Aldo's shoes are incredibly comfortable. Going to order more :<

Dolman sleeved tshirt. Cause I look nice in baggy tops.

A skirt suit, or just more decent/fitting pencil skirts. Both for work and play.

In terms of lolita, I should stop buying as much sweet and focus on building my classic/gothic wardrobe again. I can wear those items more often and in more mature situations while still feeling like myself. And maybe looking glamorous enough to make someone write home to mom ;P.

Sitting in the sharp building because I found out I don't have to work until 12:30. Nothing interesting on LJ, blah D:.

So I have this big wad of cash sitting in my paypal account pretty much for the express purpose of lolita buying. I want to buy stuff, but I'm not really sure what. I was holding out for Fantasic Dolly, but as the colors I want sold out on reservation, there's not a huge chance I'm going to get it unless I am really really quick with Starry Candy Box (which I will try my best to be!).

There's a really affordable Magical Etoile jumper floating around Mbok right now which I am really tempted by. It's the red colorway, which I really like, but my dream of dreams is the black.

There's also an affordable Royal Poodle in black, which I thought wasn't my favorite print, but after seeing Mina's, I am really tempted by the details. I also really like that it straddles a line between being suitable for OTT sort of looks, but also more princessey/elegant looks.

I also feel like I want to add more basics to my closet, but I feel like I don't want to spend a lot of money on those things, and the ones I can find that are affordable are not really my favorite. Whenever I try to buy these things, I sort of blank on what I need.

Another option I'm mulling over is commissioning a bonnet. I really love them and I want one. My friend commissioned a really really stunning minitricorn from Apatico, and everything I've seen from her is 100% lush. That girl really knows her hats. They are however, extremely pricey. It'd be worth it, I know, but I'm not sure I want to spend as much as a brand dress for a silly hat. The other option I've been thinking is getting one from Ophanim. I don't really like the flowers she uses, but I could probably request my bonnet without them. The construction on these looks fairly hit or miss, though the black ones she's been making lately have been really fab, and are definitely along the lines of what I want. Also much more affordable. Abbie's bonnet from Excalibur Girls is really pretty, but I don't know if they're still alive?

Maybe I should just buy more wigs...

Maybe I should buy nothing and save my money until Angelic Pretty releases the kitten print of my dreams.

Sorry to Spam you F-List

Over my lunchbreak I did some shopping for the meet. Mostly I bought makeup.

- 2 White eyeliners, one for me, one for Emma
- False nails and tape adhesive
- Hair dye
- Tarina Tarinto shimmer
- Tarina Tarinto Candy Cameo eyeshadow (because the packaging is baller!)
- Sephora brand silver shadow
- Maybelline Falsies mascara (mostly because I just want to try it, and my HIP mascara is running low)

- Pink Sugar perfume by Aquolina. (I tried this on in line and I simply could not resist it, damn you Sephora last-minute in-line "bargain" rollerballs!) It seriously smells like cupcakes with a floral basenote. Perfect for sweet lolita <3.

Check out the ingredients list: Bergamot, Sicilian Orange, Raspberry, Fig Leaves, Lily of the Valley, Licorice, Strawberry, Red Fruit, Cotton Candy, Vanilla, Caramel, Musk, Wood, Powder.

I also picked up some bows and bracelets from Claire's. They didn't have what I was really looking for, but I got some cute stuff for not very much money.

In other news, Ben wants to come to the meetup. I wonder why? Could it be that he actually enjoys going in spite of all our frivolous frilliness? I didn't think he really enjoyed himself that much when he came to the zoo meet, but he's all about going to this giant megameet. I'm really quite baffled.

Megameet outfit

I'm thinking I'll do my hair something like this with my extensions. Put the bow on its side and add my glitter bow and other shit.

I'll wear it with the polkadot socks Emma brought me. For shoes I'm thinking that I should probably wear my black tea parties as to match with Emma, but I sort of want to try pink shoes with it and maybe a pink blouse. Perhaps even pink tights underneath. I know Emma doesn't have a pink blouse, so if I were to really really match with her I couldn't wear it... I'm also suspicious that my pink blouse is really dumb looking on me. It's one of those giant collar giant puff sleeve deals and I generally feel silly in it. I haven't tried to wear my new pink cutsew under a jumperskirt yet, but it doesn't have a collar so I'm not sure how well it would work. I'll try everything on tonight and see.

I would also like to be decently deco'd, I'm not sure I have enough stuff to put on myself. We'll figure it out I guess.

Speaking of tonight, I have a really busy day ahead of me. I need to:
- Pick up dry cleaning and mail out dresses
- Pick up needed makeup and accessories for outfit tomorrow
- Wig spray & brush
- Dye hair
- Look at kittens
- Go see movie with a friend?

I don't think the last two are going to happen tonight, I should call them and reschedule.

A sad, sad post

Today my dog Tonya, who has been part of my family since I was seven years old, passed away. She was very old, almost 14, but I am still very heartbroken. My dad called me to tell me that she was sick about 5:30 this evening, and I later found out from my mom that she had had a stroke on Friday, and that her blood count was all wrong. They did some tests and while at first the tests showed nothing, further examination at a better animal hospital in Madison, they found cancer in her liver and stomach. She was bleeding internally and she probably wouldn't have lived through the week, maybe even the night. Luckily, the doctors were able to find the cancer at a stage that it wasn't yet causing her physical pain, so even though she was really weak and feeble, she was still able to be her smiley, attentive self until the end. My family chose a procedure for her that allowed her to lay on her bed with my family around her as she passed. I wish I could have been there, I'm so upset that I couldn't hug her one last time...

I'm so glad that the last time I saw her she was happy and active. She seemed weak, but she was glad to see me, and she was very much herself. I'm glad that she didn't have to suffer, and that she was able to spend her last minutes with her family. All of us loved her so much, she wasn't just a pet to us, she was really part of our family. She slept in one of our beds every night, and rode with us in the front seat of the car, and came into our rooms to comfort us when we were sad, and would poke her head into our rooms just to check on us. She chased deer in the woods, ran in her dreams, stole hot dogs from the table, looked after kelly, and even cuddled with my cats. I love her and I will never forget how wonderful she was, and how she was really was my guardian and my friend. She had a full and happy life and I am so glad I was able to be her person.
